NAVFAC B-158
Naval Base Point Loma, California
The $7.2 Million project includes renovating Building 158 into a two-story space with a basement suitable for administration services and training. It also includes demolition to cut openings for completion of a seismic retrofit, and installation of an elevator and ramp to bring the building into ADA compliance; constructing walls throughout all three floors to enclose offices, interview rooms, an evidence room, locker rooms, storage areas, and classrooms.
The project involved the seismic retrofit and rehabilitation of the currently vacant NBPL Building 158, unreinforced masonry building constructed in 1908 and designed in the Colonial Revival style. NBPL Building 158 is a contributing resource to the Naval Base Point Loma Coastal Defense Historic District, a National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)eligible district.
